Denim Day 2021
History
In 1992, an 18-year old Italian woman was raped by her 45 year old driving instructor. She reported the incident to authorities and he was then convicted of rape and sentenced to jail. Years later, his conviction was appealed. The supreme court argued that because of how tight the young woman’s pants were, she must have helped him remove them, making the sex consensual. This event caused an international wave of protests.
Denim Day has now become a world-wide effort to end sexual assault. To view the full story and more information visit www.denimdayinfo.org.
